Annual grasses including annual bluegrass, crabgrass, barnyardgrass, foxtails, and panicum, and some annual broadleaves including spurge, bittercress, prostrate knotweed, yellow woodsorrel, chickweed, pearlwort, pigweeds, lambsquarters, and velvetleaf.

Major Weeds Not Controlled

Common groundsel, morningglory and nutsedges are not controlled. Poor or marginal control of galinsoga, nightshades, henbit and ragweed is to be expected. Emerged weeds and grasses are not controlled.

For Best Results

Apply to weed free soil. Irrigate to activate and remove granules from foliage. Apply before budbreak as growth inhibition can occur when the liquid formulations are applied over the top of ornamentals after budbreak. Apply only to established plantings. In nurseries and Christmas tree plantings, Pendulum is often combined with either Princep or Gallery to expand the spectrum of weeds controlled. The aquacap formulation (3.8L) is not recommended for use in container nursery stock.

Cautions and Precautions

Do not apply granules to wet foliage. Do not incorporate or apply directly to bare roots of woody ornamentals. Delay first application to ornamental bare-root liners for two to four weeks. Stressed plants are more susceptible to injury. With the EC formulation, a persistent yellow color can stain equipment and hardscapes. Do not use in greenhouses or other enclosed structures.

Residual Activity

Three to five months of grass control can be expected at normal use rates. Shorter residuals are to be expected in container nursery settings.

Volatility and Leaching Potential

Skip to Volatility and Leaching Potential

Slight loss from the soil surface can result from photodegradation and volatility. Irrigation soon after application will limit these losses. Low water solubility and strongly adsorbed to soil organic matter and clay and, therefore, not leached.

Symptoms and Mode of Action

Skip to Symptoms and Mode of Action

Inhibits root development by affecting cell division. Typical injury symptoms include swollen, stubby roots. These symptoms are most commonly seen on affected grasses. See: https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/root-inhibitors Mode of Action Group 3.
