Uses
Suppression of yellow nutsedge and preemergence control of many annual grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds in container and field-grown woody nursery stock, landscape plantings and groundcovers.

Major Weeds Controlled
Many annual weeds including annual grasses, annual sedges, spurge, oxalis, doveweed, willowherb and many others. Higher doses are required for bittercress, chamberbitter and marsh parsley control. Suppression of eclipta.
Major Weeds Not Controlled
Purple nutsedge, evening primrose, morningglory, long-stalked phyllanthus, Japanese stiltgrass, pearlwort.
For Best Results
Apply to weed-free soil or substrates. Irrigate soon after application. Do not use in greenhouses or other enclosed structures. Avoid applications over the top of broadleaf ornamental plants in the spring when young, tender growth is present. Directed applications may be used to avoid injury to tender foliage.
Cautions and Precautions
Do not use on begonias or ornamental grasses. Injury to other species of herbaceous ornamentals has been reported including dianthus, rudbeckia, stachys, salvia and others. Do use in propagation or liner production. Applications to newly transplanted rooted cuttings or seedlings of loropetalum, Lavendula, wax myrtle (seedlings) can stunt plant growth. Delay applications to these species until plants are well established. Label restricts back to back applications of Tower on certain species. Check label for details. Do not exceed 64 fluid ounces per acre per year.
Residual Activity
In containers, 6 to 8 weeks of residual control of susceptible species has been observed. In soil (landscape of field nursery), up to 12 weeks of residual control can be expected. Weeds requiring higher doses will be controlled for shorter periods of time.
Volatility and Leaching Potential
Dimethenamid-p has moderate volatility and leaching potential but is adsorbed strongly to soil organic matter limiting leaching in most situations. However, in coarse textured soils with low organic matter, leaching may occur.
Symptoms and Mode of Action
Dimethenamid-p inhibits lipid synthesis. Injury symptoms include crinkling of new growth, new leaves remaining “rolled” and not unfurling normally, and general stunting. Mode of Action Group 15.
